The Challenge
Your colleagues complain to support why the log-in to applications takes so long. The product management wants to know which applications are in use. And you ask yourself which backend-server is responsible for slowing down your session.
With NetDescribe and our Splunk App uberAgent you monitor the important KPIs for user experience, the ultimate score for efficient IT Services and the application performance. You significantly strengthen your SMB Performance.

uberAgent for Splunk – the Solution from NetDescribe
With the automated application identification by uberAgent the cryptic process names become history – without configuration and even for App-V and Java apps.
uberAgent actively informs you about bad log-in times and shows you which part of the process causes the slow down. Very often it is the overloaded backend server.
uberAgent simplifies the analysis and shows you how much data have been transferred to the associated backend server and how long it took. The stability of server and application will be measured.
True help for your operation.
uberAgent is an agent for Windows and virtualized desktops (VMware, Citrix) that monitors key metrics in user experience and application performance.
uberAgent consists of two main components:
The Data Collection Agent runs on Windows machines and sends the collected data to the Splunk Enterprise instance either directly or via Splunk’s Universal Forwarder. It requires minimal memory with 15 MB of RAM and less than 0.5% of the CPU.
The Splunk Dashboard App sets up the Splunk backend configuration and visualizes the data.
Dynamic Application Identification
uberAgent supports client and server versions of Windows. The available information includes memory data from CPU, hard disk, device and kernel. The dashboard shows numbers for detailed analysis as well as charts for a quick overview.
Logon Duration
uberAgent shows the total duration of each boot and logon process and can break it down into individual phases if needed. This makes it easy to identify trends and see the impact of GPO changes. With uberAgent, the entire login process can be viewed with as much detail as desired.
Network Latency per Application
uberAgent generates reports on network performance – individually per application and per communication destination. They show the transferred data volume and, more importantly, the latency of each connection.
Application Reliability
Application UI Unresponsiveness monitors, when applications do not respond to user input.
- Application Performance determines the resource usage of all components of an application.
- Application Error shows what is wrong and who is affected by it.
RDS Session Footprint
In conjunction with an Enterprise Splunk version and uberAgent, you can quickly get all the information you need about sizing a server farm and about server capacity planning.
Application Usage Metering
uberAgent provides answers to all resource planning, licensing and sizing questions.
Browser Performance per Website
The web is a collection of applications, running on a single operating system, the browser. uberAgent provides detailed performance data for each web page in each time period. In addition, it identifies the culprits that consume the resources.
System Boot Performance
uberAgent analyzes the most important metrics for each boot process without any additional load that would further slow down the boot process.
GPU Acceleration
The GPU is also increasingly used for effects or video decoding. In order to optimally size the hardware for the workload, administrators need to understand exactly to what extent the applications make use of GPU acceleration.
uberAgent for Splunk monitors Windows machines and provides you with detailed information about the performance of your computer on the network. The focus is on visualizing what is currently happening. Machines and processes as well as applications are analyzed in detail. The integration effort and system resource requirements are low.
