Since April we all had to get used to the mouth and nose protection, for better or worse. However, the wearing of everyday masks, after a long back and forth, was first recommended by the government, but then became an obligation. But where should one suddenly get the many masks for all employees? This is where our little NetDescribe story begins and we can already reveal that there is a happy end.
Like all companies in this country, NetDescribe was also affected by the Corona measures. On March 13 (10 weeks ago now!) the lockdown arrived at the office in Oberhaching.
Our CEO, Gregory Blepp, who had travelled to Thailand, was also surprised. Due to the sudden travel restrictions, his stay became much longer than planned. Thanks to the best technical conditions on site, the cooperation with the team in Germany was fortunately possible at any time.
On 27 April, most of the German federal states introduced an obligation to wear a mouth and nose protector. The week before, we at NetDescribe had already discussed the problem of the shortage of masks in Germany, because we wanted to prepare our employees for their possible return to work.
Gregory Blepp had a good idea for this. He wanted to have his own everyday masks made for NetDescribe.
In Thailand, where many textile factories are located, a lot of needle workers were affected by the pandemic, had no work and received no support from the government. He approached one of the families. Jae, single mother of three daughters, had sewn in a souvenir shop for tourists before the crisis. From one day to the next she had no income.
Since mouth-nose-protection masks are very common throughout Asia and have not only been part of everyday life since Covid-19, the know-how was available and agreement was quickly reached. Two families had work again. They designed the patterns and layouts with NetDescribe logo.
After a few samples, the production of 500 everyday masks each in grey and berry, the logo colours of NetDescribe, began. Next week the delivery is scheduled to arrive in Munich. All employees and their families will be stocked and the rest is for customers and partners, so to speak as give-away in Corona times.
